India and Netherlands Sign Agreements to Support Gujarat Kalpasar Water Project

India and the Netherlands signed two tripartite memorandums to support technical cooperation and capacity building for Gujarat’s Kalpasar Project, involving India’s Central Water Commission and Kalpasar Department alongside Dutch institutions Deltares and TU Delft. The agreements were announced during a bilateral meeting at the India International Water Week in New Delhi, where the countries reviewed ways to deepen their water-sector partnership. The project aims to create a freshwater reservoir using runoff from the Sabarmati, Mahi and Dhadhar rivers, supplemented by water from the Narmada. Indian officials said the collaboration builds on a technical-cooperation Letter of Intent signed in May and on exchanges with Dutch experts in areas including flood protection, coastal infrastructure and hydraulic engineering.
