Central Railway Announces Monthlong Ticket Verification Drive Ahead of Festive Season

Central Railway will conduct an intensified ticket-checking drive from October 1 through 31, 2026, ahead of the festive travel season. Checks will focus on tickets booked with concessions, specified reservation quotas and railway passes, as well as the authenticity of unreserved tickets. Passengers must carry the prescribed original identity and eligibility documents; for a booking covering multiple passengers, at least one person named on the ticket must produce the required original ID, or the entire group may be treated as travelling without valid tickets under applicable rules. E-Pass and PTO users must also carry the required documents and exchange the pass for the prescribed travel authority before starting their journey. Central Railway says the drive is intended to curb misuse of reservations, concessions and passes, and reduce revenue losses; staff may use the TTE app to verify tickets.
Examples of accepted train-travel identity documents include an Aadhaar card, passport, Election Commission voter photo ID and PAN card.
An E-Pass allows eligible railway employees and their family members to travel without paying the standard fare, while a PTO lets eligible employees buy tickets at a concessionary fare.
The checks will take place at stations as well as on trains across Central Railway’s network.
