Deutsche Bank Plans Regulated Crypto Custody Service for European Corporate Clients in 2026

Deutsche Bank has been developing the custody offering for several years and previously partnered with Taurus on cryptocurrency custody for institutional clients; Bloomberg also reported that Bitpanda and Taurus were involved in the project.
Prospective clients will be subject to Deutsche Bank’s standard due-diligence procedures before they are onboarded.
EURAU, one of the planned supported tokens, was launched in July 2025 by AllUnity—a joint venture of DWS, Flow Traders and Galaxy—after the venture received an electronic-money institution license from Germany’s BaFin; AllUnity describes the token as fully reserved and MiCA-compliant.
Gerald Podobnik said Deutsche Bank’s goal is to provide clients with “regulated and secure access to the market,” while viewing digital assets as a complement to—not a replacement for—the traditional financial system.
Deutsche Bank plans to launch a regulated cryptocurrency custody service for European institutional clients later in 2026, pending regulatory approval BigGo Finance. The service will initially support Bitcoin, Ether, and select stablecoins including USDC, EURC, and EURAU, with the bank managing customers' private keys and wallets so they avoid building their own infrastructure InCrypted.
The offering targets corporations, asset managers, hedge funds, brokers, and sovereign institutions, with an initial rollout expected in Germany Yahoo Finance. Security features include hardware-based key protection, multi-person approval for transactions, and segregated storage of assets in both warm and cold formats CryptoProwl.
Deutsche Bank has spent several years building this custody infrastructure. The bank previously partnered with Taurus on cryptocurrency custody solutions, and Bloomberg reported that Bitpanda and Taurus were also involved in the broader project BloomingBit.
All prospective clients will undergo Deutsche Bank's standard due-diligence procedures before onboarding. The bank aims to provide what executive Gerald Podobnik called "regulated and secure access to the market," viewing digital assets as complementary to—not replacing—traditional finance BigGo Finance.
One supported token, EURAU, launched in July 2025 through AllUnity, a joint venture of DWS, Flow Traders, and Galaxy InCrypted. The venture received an electronic-money institution license from Germany's financial regulator, BaFin.
AllUnity describes EURAU as fully reserved and compliant with MiCA, the EU's Markets in Crypto Assets regulation BigGo Finance. This alignment signals Deutsche Bank's commitment to operating within Europe's emerging regulatory framework for digital assets.
Deutsche Bank said the list of supported cryptocurrencies and tokens could grow based on client demand, regulatory changes, and internal risk assessments Yahoo Finance. The bank is also considering tokenized financial instruments—digital versions of traditional securities and bonds.
This flexibility allows the bank to adapt as European crypto regulation matures and institutional appetite for digital assets increases CryptoProwl. The service underscores how major traditional banks are now building native crypto infrastructure rather than avoiding the sector.
