Ixigo Acquires Brevistay Majority Stake for ₹66 Crore, Boosting Flexible Hotel Stays

Ixigo said its board approved plans to acquire a 54.66% majority stake in Brevistay Hospitality for ₹65.69 crore, with Brevistay set to become a subsidiary once conditions are met and Ixigo can buy the remaining stake later subject to agreed terms. Brevistay, founded in 2016, runs a flexible-stay hotel platform focused on short-duration and overnight bookings across budget to premium properties in India’s major cities and smaller towns. The combined companies will give Ixigo access to more than 10,000 directly contracted hotels, strengthening its accommodation business in a segment viewed as higher-margin than its core ticketing operations. Ixigo framed the move as a way to use Brevistay’s flexible inventory model—such as hourly rentals—to improve utilization for hotels and complement its AI-led distribution and workflow efficiencies. Analysts and investors note potential headwinds, including social stigma around hourly rentals and high customer acquisition costs, even as Ixigo looks to reduce reliance on discount-driven growth. Brevistay has reported rising revenue in recent fiscal periods, and the transaction structure (primary and secondary purchases) reflects a staged approach to capital deployment amid volatile market conditions.
Ixigo said its flexible-stay inventory is already integrated across its platform, and it plans to pair Brevistay’s infrastructure with its “AI-native architecture” via the newly launched “ixigo NEXT” to automate workflows that are otherwise labor-intensive.
In its announcement, Ixigo CEO Aloke Bajpai and co-CEO Rajnish Kumar said: “Brevistay has built a category-defining platform with deep hotel partnerships and a strong presence in the flexible-stay segment,” adding they see opportunities to “leverage technology, AI, and distribution” to help hotel partners maximise utilisation and revenue.
Brevistay’s recent performance includes revenue of Rs 18 crore in FY26, up from Rs 12 crore in FY25—an increase Ixigo highlighted alongside the acquisition.
Ixigo’s move into hotels aligns with prior funding: the company said it strengthened its hotels strategy when it raised $150 million from Dutch technology investor Prosus last year, targeting a higher-margin segment where it previously had limited presence.
