Beacon Financial names former COO Sean Gray as its new president and chief executive officer.

Gray previously served as Berkshire Bank’s interim CEO from August 2020 through January 2021, adding prior chief executive experience to his banking background.
Gray’s earlier responsibilities included technology, risk management, human resources, marketing, corporate development, strategy and analytics, as well as regional market leadership.
The succession process was conducted by Beacon’s Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee with assistance from executive-search firm Caldwell Partners.
Under his consulting agreement, Perrault is to receive $120,000 per month for 12 months, his 2026 annual bonus based on actual performance and continuation of certain benefits, subject to specified release and restrictive-covenant conditions.
Gray holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Bentley University; the company’s filing also reported no related-party transactions, family relationships or other arrangements requiring disclosure in connection with his appointment.
Beacon Financial Corporation appointed Sean A. Gray as president and CEO effective September 21, 2026, according to Simply Wall Street. Gray, 50, takes over from Paul A. Perrault, who retired after more than 50 years in banking. Gray previously served as the company's chief operating officer and interim CEO of Berkshire Bank in 2020-2021.
The succession followed a board-led planning process with help from executive-search firm Caldwell Partners, Banking Dive reported. Perrault will stay on as a consultant for one year, earning $120,000 per month plus his 2026 performance bonus and continued benefits. Gray brings nearly 30 years of experience in commercial banking, lending, wealth management, and operations.
Gray gained prominence managing the complex 2024 merger between Brookline Bancorp and Berkshire Hills Bancorp that created Beacon Financial, Berkshire Eagle reported. As chief operating officer, he oversaw enterprise operations and systems integration during the integration process. His leadership through the merger gave the board confidence in his ability to lead the combined organization forward.
Perrault ended a career spanning more than five decades in banking and financial services, Pulse2 reported. Under his consulting agreement, he will receive $120,000 monthly for 12 months, his earned 2026 performance bonus, and continuation of specified benefits. The consulting arrangement includes release and restrictive-covenant conditions designed to support a smooth leadership transition.
