New Documentary Explores the History and Impact of L.A. Chicano Art Collective Asco

'Asco: Without Permission', a new documentary by Travis Gutiérrez Senger, aims to herald the next generation of L.A. Chicano artists. The film premiered last year at SXSW and will be shown on TV for the first time as part of PBS SoCal’s “Voces” series. The story of Asco and its descendants is featured in the documentary, "Asco," which also includes Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna. In the film, Asco was an art group, not a singular artist, working together to respond to social and political realities such as the 1968, the 1970, the Vietnam War, police brutality and gang violence.
