Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong Predicts Bitcoin Could Reach $400,000 by 2030

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong reiterated that Bitcoin could reach $400,000 by 2030, describing it as a plausible scenario rather than a guaranteed outcome or official Coinbase forecast. He based the estimate on Bitcoin’s roughly four-year supply-halving cycles and the rallies and corrections that have followed in the past, suggesting a repeat could lift the price to about three times its previous record. Armstrong cautioned that past performance does not predict future results and said short-term prices are especially difficult to forecast.
Armstrong said Bitcoin could reach $80,000–$90,000 by year-end, while emphasizing that short-term price targets are especially difficult to predict.
When asked about portfolio exposure, Armstrong recommended Bitcoin as part of a diversified portfolio and suggested investors could start with a 1% allocation.
The latest Bitcoin halving took place in April 2024, reducing the mining reward from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC; the reduction limits the flow of newly issued Bitcoin but does not determine the price buyers will pay.
Coinbase introduced fixed-rate USDC loans backed by Bitcoin, using the Morpho Midnight protocol; the loans have preset rates and maturities, with settlement on Coinbase’s Base network.
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $2.4 billion in net inflows in the week ended Sept. 25, their largest weekly total since October 2025, according to one report.
