Costco Reports Robust 10.6% Net Sales Increase for June, Fueled by Gas Prices and Digital Growth.

Five-week period excluding gasoline and FX shows U.S. comparable sales up 7.6%, Canada up 4.9%, and other international up 5.6%.
For the 44-week period, total comparable sales grew 8.3%, with the U.S. up 7.9%, Canada up 8.5%, and other international up 10.1%.
Digitally-enabled comparable sales rose 21.5% over the 44-week period.
The board declared a quarterly cash dividend of $1.47 per share, with the dividend declared on July 7, 2026 and payable August 7, 2026.
Market reaction to the release included Costco shares falling 1.5% in after-hours trading, before finishing the day up about 0.6%.
Costco posted $29.24 billion in net sales for the five weeks ended July 5, 2026, a 10.6% jump from a year earlier, according to Benzinga. A sharp rise in gas prices drove much of the gain, with worldwide gas prices up about 22% year over year contributing roughly 2.5 percentage points to comparable sales growth.
Comparable sales rose 8.8% companywide for the period. Strip out gasoline and foreign exchange effects, and the underlying growth was still a solid 7.0%, showing strength well beyond the pump, GuruFocus reported.
Gas was the headline driver in June. Worldwide fuel prices climbed about 22% year over year, adding a roughly 2.5% boost to Costco's overall comparable sales figure, according to Market Screener. U.S. comparable sales led the way, rising 10.6% for the five-week period.
Canada rose 3.7% and other international markets gained 4.7% in comparable sales. Exclude gas and foreign exchange, and the picture still looks strong: U.S. up 7.6%, Canada up 4.9%, and other international up 5.6%, per GuruFocus.
Costco's online business kept pace with its warehouses. Digitally-enabled comparable sales jumped 20.9% in June alone, GuruFocus reported. That follows a broader trend — over the full 44-week period, digital comparable sales rose 21.5%.
Total net sales for the 44-week period hit $250.43 billion, up 10.1% from a year ago. Comparable sales for those 44 weeks rose 8.3%, with the U.S. up 7.9%, Canada up 8.5%, and other international markets up 10.1%.
Alongside the sales report, Costco's board declared a quarterly cash dividend of $1.47 per share, according to GuruFocus. The dividend was declared on July 7, 2026 and is payable on August 7, 2026. It carries a forward yield of 0.62%.
Investors sent mixed signals after the report dropped. Costco shares fell 1.5% in after-hours trading, Benzinga reported. The stock had finished the regular session up about 0.6%, suggesting the market had already priced in much of the good news.
The dip likely reflects high expectations baked into the stock price rather than any weakness in the results. Core comparable sales growth of 7.0% — with gas stripped out — points to steady demand from Costco's membership base heading into the second half of the year.
