Washington state minimum wage will increase to $17.73 an hour by 2027

Washington state's minimum wage will increase to $17.73 an hour in 2027, an increase of 3.5 percent, according to the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I). The increase also changes the minimum salary for workers that are overtime-exempt. Currently, the state’s minimum wage is $17.,13 an hour, while the federal minimum wage has remained at $7.25 an hour since July 24, 2009. Small businesses will not have an increase in overtime-eligible until 2028, when it will increase from 2.25 to 2.5 times the minimum wage.
