Commercial companies race to build a multi-billion dollar lunar economy by 2050

Commercial companies are competing in the race to build an entire economy beyond Earth, with companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin leading the way. Jon Crocker, a clinical professor and director of space commerce at the University of Maryland, has been studying lunar investments, SpaceX's growth, and orbital computing. A recent report from Deloitte predicts that the lunar economy could reach $566 billion by 2050, with infrastructure being the foundation, transportation generating $206 billion. Crocker also highlighted the potential for other companies to leverage this technology to deliver products here on Earth. The University of Mary's Space Commerce program prepares students for careers in the growing aerospace economy.
