NJ congresswoman gives birth as she awaits federal trial for assault charges

Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) has given birth to her daughter as she awaits trial on federal charges related to a violent anti-ICE protest. The charges stem from a May 2025 dust-up outside the Delaney Hall ICE facility in Newark. McIVER, who also has a 10-year-old daughter, faces a maximum of 17 years behind bars if convicted of all charges. She is only the fifteenth-ever member of Congress to give birth while serving.
