Lindsay Lohan and Henry Golding to Star in Netflix Romance Return to You

Lindsay Lohan will star opposite Henry Golding in Netflix’s romantic feature Return to You, which she will also produce. Set in 2008, the film follows a lonely attorney who mistakenly receives a DVD recorded by a dying woman for her husband and uses clues from it to find him; the search brings her into the life of the grieving widower. Mark Waters, who directed Lohan in Mean Girls and Freaky Friday, will direct from a script by Eric Champnella, reuniting with Lohan and producer Brad Krevoy, who has worked with her on Netflix films. The project continues Lohan’s recent run of Netflix romances and follows her return to Freaky Friday’s Anna Coleman in 2025’s Freakier Friday.
The film’s expanded logline describes Lohan’s character as a guarded divorce attorney; the DVD is lost in the mail, and its message effectively makes her a “matchmaker from beyond the grave” before she falls for the grieving widower.
Lohan has said she now wants to be involved in projects “from the ground up,” explaining that she visualizes a character’s direction and wardrobe while reading a script. She said, “With age comes a different kind of confidence” when discussing becoming more comfortable voicing her views about a character.
Olivia Krevoy, Jimmy Townsend and Galen Fletcher are executive producers on the film, in addition to Lohan and Brad Krevoy serving as producers.
Lohan is also set to star in and executive-produce Hulu’s limited drama series Count My Lies, adapted from Sophia Stava’s novel; the series will co-star Shailene Woodley and Kit Harington.
