AOC's retelling of Cornell rape allegations collides with official complaint details and university statements.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., delivered a detailed account of a sexual assault case at a town hall hosted by More Perfect University in Ithaca, New York. She accused seven men of drugging and sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman at Cornell University in 2024. The university disputes these claims, stating that several students who received temporary suspensions were given an opportunity to mitigate their conduct by submitting essays to the university. The civil lawsuit filed by Jane Doe alleges that Doe was sexually assaulted by multiple fraternity members after being plied with alcohol and drugs. Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten has reopened an investigation into the allegations and will review the decision about whether to pursue criminal charges against the seven fraternity members.
