Sun Pharma Secures Exclusive Rights to Market Lerodalcibep Outside US and China

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has secured exclusive rights from LIB Therapeutics to manufacture and commercialize lerodalcibep worldwide, excluding the United States and China. The once-monthly PCSK9 inhibitor, marketed in the European Union as Lyrokaul, lowers LDL cholesterol and was approved in the EU on September 21, 2026; it is also approved in the United States as Lerochol, outside the agreement’s territory. LIB will receive an upfront payment, potential milestone payments and royalties on sales in the licensed markets. The deal gives Sun access to an ex-US and China PCSK9 market valued at about $3.7 billion and growing rapidly, while the global market is projected to approach $7 billion in 2026. The companies point to persistent treatment gaps, with observational data finding that only about one-third of patients in a European study met their LDL cholesterol targets on stable oral therapy.
Lerodalcibep is described as a novel antibody-mimetic biologic and recombinant fusion protein that inhibits PCSK9; it is given as a 300 mg/1.2 mL subcutaneous injection once a month.
The medicine can be stored at ambient room temperature (up to 25°C) for six months after it is removed from refrigeration.
Europe accounted for $2.9 billion of the ex-US and China PCSK9 inhibitor market, which reached $3.7 billion in the period ending Q2 2026, according to IQVIA data cited in the report.
Sun Pharma Managing Director Kirti W. Ganorkar said the agreement would strengthen the company’s global Innovative Medicines portfolio in cardiovascular care, while LIB executive Evan Stein called Sun an “ideal partner” to expand access to lerodalcibep internationally.
