Altcoins Stage Sharp Market Recovery While Official Altseason Remains Unconfirmed

Altcoin market capitalization reached approximately $222 billion, its highest level in eight months, according to Glassnode data cited by AMBCrypto.
Altcoin futures open interest relative to Bitcoin was about 10% to 15% below parity, remaining under Glassnode’s historical risk threshold; previous moves toward or above parity had coincided with stretched leverage and heightened liquidation risk.
The broader market remains well below its previous highs: Bitcoin was about 36% below its all-time high, Ethereum 47% below, Solana 61% below and the overall altcoin market capitalization roughly 54% below its peak.
Ethereum’s technical setup showed a potential pullback ahead: ETH was trading near $2,622, with an RSI of 71 indicating overbought conditions and the 50-day EMA around $2,489 identified as possible support, despite a bullish MACD crossover.
SUI was also showing an overbought but technically bullish structure: its price near $0.87 faced upper Bollinger Band resistance, while support was indicated around the 50-EMA at $0.75; its RSI stood at 79.88 and the MACD had formed a golden cross.
Altcoins have bounced back sharply, with their combined market value hitting $222 billion—the highest in eight months, AMBCrypto reported. Yet the rebound hasn't triggered a true altseason yet. Bitcoin still dominates at roughly 59% of the total crypto market, and altcoins haven't outperformed Bitcoin enough to cross confirmed altseason thresholds.
About 70% of altcoins listed on Binance now trade above their 200-day moving averages, signaling broad strength. However, futures data show traders aren't yet piling on excessive leverage. Altcoin futures open interest sits 10-15% below parity with Bitcoin—under the threshold where past market tops occurred, Glassnode data shows.
The $222 billion market cap represents a major recovery, but the broader altcoin market remains deeply underwater. Ethereum trades 47% below its all-time high. Solana sits 61% below peak prices. Bitcoin itself is 36% below its record. The overall altcoin market is roughly 54% below its previous high, leaving room for far larger moves.
Ethereum shows signs of a near-term dip despite bullish long-term setup. ETH trades around $2,622 with an RSI of 71, indicating overbought conditions. The 50-day moving average sits near $2,489 as potential support. A bullish MACD crossover suggests strength, but high RSI typically precedes pullbacks.
SUI faces similar near-term pressure. The token trades near $0.87 with an RSI of 79.88—extremely overbought. It's bumping against upper Bollinger Band resistance. Support sits around the 50-day moving average at $0.75. The MACD formed a golden cross, a bullish signal, but the extreme RSI suggests a correction could come first.
Altcoin futures open interest relative to Bitcoin sits 10-15% below parity, staying safely below Glassnode's historical risk threshold. Previous moves toward or above parity coincided with stretched leverage and heightened liquidation risk. The current positioning suggests speculative demand remains measured—not a sign of market excess or euphoria.
Analysts have flagged bullish technical structures in Ethereum, Solana, SUI, TAO, and HYPE. These assets show positive momentum indicators like golden cross MACD formations and strong price action above key moving averages. However, elevated RSI readings across multiple altcoins suggest buyers have moved quickly—and quick gains can reverse just as fast if profit-taking begins.
