Russian Strikes Disrupt Kyiv Television and Internet Infrastructure Services

Russian strikes on data centers and telecommunications infrastructure in Kyiv disrupted broadcasts for several Ukrainian television channels. We Are Ukraine+ said damage to Cosmonova’s infrastructure took it off the air, while Novyny.LIVE reported a temporary signal outage; both said their digital platforms remained available as technicians worked to restore service. State-owned Armiya TV also suspended its broadcast, but continued operating on YouTube and social media. The attacks have also affected internet providers and other communications services, though the reports gave no firm timeline for restoring all television signals.
The disruption came amid a broader campaign against communications infrastructure: since mid-September, Russian forces have struck Ukrainian data centers and telecommunications facilities. The Institute for the Study of War assessed that Russia was seeking “alternative mechanisms for victory” in light of the situation on the front lines.
A September 23 attack on Kyiv damaged infrastructure belonging to internet providers Domonet, Kievnet and Faust; the report said damaged equipment and power outages could leave some subscribers without internet or with unstable connections. It also noted that Cityhost, KyivLink, MiroHost and Etherlink had previously reported problems.
Kolo TV separately reported that its equipment was damaged earlier on Saturday.
A separate attack on September 25 damaged a data center operated by Datagroup, according to the report.
