Bronx Resident Charged With Murder Following Fatal Rush-Hour Stabbing on Queens Subway

Jyrell Thomas, a 25-year-old Bronx resident, has been charged with murder for allegedly stabbing Mesias Lojano, 59, to death during an argument on a Queens train. The attack occurred during rush hour on the packed southbound J train approaching Woodhaven Boulevard. Lojanos was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where he later died. Thomas, who did not know Lojeno, was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon and hospitalized. The incident initially appeared to be due to a dispute, but police confirmed the attack was unprovoked. Thomas has a previous arrest for allegedly stealing $23 worth of merchandise from a Bronx Target store and attempting to flee from cops.
