Xbox Mythic Achievement Details Surface in Latest PC App Update

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma previously confirmed that the PlayStation Platinum-style feature was in development for release “later this year,” although Microsoft has not yet published its full requirements.
The Mythic feature was first publicized after Xbox-focused social-media accounts, including Klobrille, shared the badge and audio assets; Xbox Insider Stallion83 said the feature remained “far from done” in the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring.
Gears of War: E-Day appears to contain a dedicated final achievement, “The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day,” which unlocks after all other achievements and awards no Gamerscore—evidence that the game may be designed to support Mythic from launch.
The leaked Xbox app includes a “Required for Mythic achievement” filter, allowing players to distinguish the achievements needed for the reward from those categorized as add-ons.
Xbox's long-awaited Platinum Trophy rival has finally surfaced. The new Mythic Achievement system appeared in the latest Xbox PC App update with a custom badge and a 16-second unlock sound, DotEsports reported. Players will unlock it by completing all achievements in a game's base list—but DLC and add-on achievements won't count.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed the feature is coming "later this year," though WolfsGamingBlog notes Microsoft hasn't released full details yet. The system counts achievements rather than Gamerscore, so players won't need to earn every single point to get the Mythic badge. Gears of War: E-Day is expected to be among the first games to support it.
Unlike PlayStation's Platinum Trophy, which requires 100% Gamerscore, the Mythic system focuses on achievement completion alone. PCTablet found that testers in the Xbox Insider program discovered the feature requires players to unlock every base-game achievement. Add-ons, DLC, and bonus achievements are excluded from the requirement.
The leaked Xbox app includes a "Required for Mythic achievement" filter to help players identify which achievements count toward the reward. Kotaku reported that the unlock sound lasts about 15 seconds—a celebratory audio cue that plays when someone earns it.
Gears of War: E-Day appears primed to support Mythic from day one. The game contains a dedicated final achievement called "The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day" that unlocks after all others but awards zero Gamerscore. This design strongly suggests the game will be among the first titles to feature the new reward system.
Microsoft has not yet confirmed critical details: whether Mythic will apply retroactively to older games, if developers must update existing titles, or the exact launch date. Xbox Insider Stallion83 said the feature remained "far from done" in the Alpha Skip-Ahead testing ring, suggesting it could still change before release.
