College Doubles Teams Secure Victories to Advance in ITA All-American Draws

Texas A&M’s Kristina Paskauskas and Lexington Reed advanced to the ITA All-American Championships women’s doubles round of 16 with a straight-set victory over Ohio State, while Paskauskas fell in the opening singles round and moved to the consolation bracket. Arizona senior Alexander Rozin is competing in the men’s singles main draw, and he and teammate Glib Sekachov also reached the doubles qualifying draw. North Carolina’s Ratiu and Xu opened the men’s doubles qualifying draw with a dominant straight-set win over Virginia Tech before advancing to the round of 16. Elon seniors Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding reached the women’s doubles qualifying draw after rallying past a seeded SMU pair, while teammates Cornelia Kack and Lisa Kranec won in the consolation prequalifying draw; Kack was eliminated from singles.
Texas A&M’s No. 34 Kristina Paskauskas and Lexington Reed defeated Ohio State’s No. 28 Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev and Audrey Spencer 6-4, 6-4, and will face Washington’s No. 5 Alexia Jacobs and Anna-Marie Weissheim in the round of 16.
Paskauskas lost her singles opener to North Carolina State’s No. 10 Mia Slama 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 and is scheduled to meet Florida’s No. 98 Allegra Korpanec Davies in the consolation bracket.
Arizona senior Alexander Rozin entered the fall ranked No. 37 nationally and was scheduled to play Kentucky’s Jack Loutit in the men’s singles main draw; Rozin and Glib Sekachov also defeated a Tulsa duo to reach the doubles qualifying draw.
Elon’s Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding rallied from a 6-0 opening-set loss to defeat SMU’s Addison Yang Comiskey and Elena Mireles, a No. 9 seed, 0-6, 6-4, 10-5; they had also beaten Illinois’ No. 88-ranked pairing earlier in the tournament.
Elon’s Cornelia Kack and Lisa Kranec won their consolation prequalifying doubles match over Oklahoma’s Laura Brunkel and Chloe Noel, 5-7, 7-5, 14-12, while Kack’s singles run ended with a loss to Harvard’s Anna Tabunshchyk.
