College Tennis Players Advance Across Multiple Regional and Conference Tournaments

At the Wabash-hosted regional, WashU’s Tam and Koval won their two doubles matches 8-3 and 8-5; they were set to face Ohio Northern’s Tyler Wood and Dylan Catanese in the round of 16.
Stevens’ Elias Alkio won his opening B3 singles match, including a 10-3 victory in the deciding tiebreak, before losing his quarterfinal 5-7, 3-6. Renat Kramin also won his singles consolation match 8-2 after losing in the championship draw.
In the MEAC women’s quarterfinals, top seed Pimmada Thongkum beat NC Central’s Randy Rakotoarilala 6-1, 6-4, while fourth seed Yuliya Yurkova defeated Delaware State’s Sara Barbaric 6-4, 6-4. Second seed Michaela Stephens rallied past Katerina Marsalkova in three sets.
The MEAC men’s quarterfinals also saw Morgan State’s Ilya Maltsev defeat fourth-seeded Marcin Andrzejczak of Norfolk State 6-1, 4-6, 6-2; third seed Szymon Malecki of Norfolk State beat NCCU’s Angel Maffezzoli 6-4, 6-0.
College tennis players across multiple regional tournaments advanced on October 2, with standout performances at ITA Division III and conference competitions. Wartburg Athletics reported that Wartburg's men's tennis program sent three players forward at the ITA Division III Midwest Regional, including one singles semifinalist and a doubles team reaching the round of 16. Meanwhile, Washington University athletes competed strongly at the Wabash-hosted ITA Fall Regional, advancing men's singles and doubles teams to the round of 16.
The Southeast Regional and MEAC tournaments also produced notable upsets and advances. Stevens' Pratik Nayak reached the B2 singles semifinals at the ITA Southeast Regional, while Howard University men's tennis saw Michael Major upset the top-seeded player in quarterfinal competition at the MEAC Fall Tennis Invitational.
Wartburg College achieved success at the ITA Division III Midwest Regional hosted by Gustavus Adolphus, advancing three players into advanced rounds of competition. One singles player reached the semifinals, while a doubles pair secured a spot in the round of 16. The Warriors' strong performance reflected their competitive positioning within the tournament field.
Washington University men's tennis dominated doubles play at the ITA Fall Regional hosted by Wabash. The pairing of Tam and Koval won both their opening matches decisively, posting scores of 8-3 and 8-5 to advance to the round of 16. They faced Ohio Northern's Tyler Wood and Dylan Catanese in their next match. WashU also advanced singles players to the round of 16 in men's competition.
