Several NFL players trend toward missing upcoming games due to lingering injuries.

Jets running back and kick returner Kene Nwangwu has missed practice all week with a back injury and appears unlikely to play Sunday against Detroit; he has not played this season, though his absence from injured reserve leaves open a possible return later. Commanders tight end Chig Okonkwo, who is rehabbing a hamstring injury that sidelined him in Week 2, also missed Thursday’s practice and is trending toward missing Sunday’s game against Seattle; Ben Sinnott and John Bates could see more opportunities if he is out. Packers defensive lineman Anthony Campbell is inactive for Thursday night’s game against Atlanta after aggravating an ankle injury against the Jets, despite limited practices earlier in the week.
Nwangwu has missed every practice and game since sustaining the back injury on Sept. 11; one report said a Week 4 return was reasonable if he could not get back in time for the Lions game.
Campbell exited the Packers’ win over the Jets early because of his ankle injury, then practiced on a limited basis Tuesday and Wednesday before being ruled out against Atlanta.
Okonkwo had one more opportunity to practice Friday before Washington issued its Week 3 injury report.
