XRP Asia Launches in Seoul to Drive Regional Institutional Adoption and Payments

XRP Asia is led by President Sabrina Tachdjian, whose previous role was vice president of fintech and payments at the Hedera Foundation.
The launch event had Ripple as its title sponsor, and Evernorth CEO Asheesh Birla was among the speakers at the opening.

In Japan, SBI Ripple Asia registered a token-issuance platform under the Fund Settlement Act in March 2026, according to CoinGape, giving the company a regulated route for institutional token issuance.
Ripple's XRP Ledger is expanding deeper into Asia's financial system. Block Telegraph reported that XRP Asia launched October 3 during Korea Blockchain Week in Seoul, bringing together major Korean banks including Woori Bank, Kakao Bank, and Jeonbuk Bank. The group aims to increase XRP Ledger adoption across the Asia Pacific region and bring financial institutions onto its payment network.
Separately, South Korea's JB Bank signed with Ripple Payments to launch personal remittances to Southeast Asia starting mid-December, CryptoNews reported. The deal includes Vietnam and plans for corporate transfers and a potential stablecoin service later. These moves follow existing regional deployments: Jeonbuk Bank already uses Ripple Payments for real-time transfers, and an SBI-led pilot is testing a yen-to-won stablecoin.
Four Korean banks took the stage at XRP Seoul to discuss institutional adoption. Corporate transfers and a stablecoin service are planned for later phases, signaling deeper institutional integration with Ripple's infrastructure.
Ripple is preparing its next phase: lending. KuCoin reported that Ripple plans to launch credit services in 2027 using XRP collateral to fund customer payments. The move would connect lending protocols directly with Ripple's payment infrastructure, creating a new revenue stream and tighter integration between borrowing and payments.
Ripple is betting big on tokenized finance. CryptoNews reported that Ripple's President Michael Wallis outlined the XRP Ledger's next growth phase: 24/7 collateral mobility through tokenized money market funds and treasuries.
