World Tourism Day Celebrations Span Multiple Regions to Spotlight AI and Sustainability

World Tourism Day 2026 celebrations on Sept. 27 and surrounding dates will emphasize sustainable development, digital innovation and the role of artificial intelligence in tourism. Ghana will host the global observance in Koforidua from Sept. 26 to Oct. 3, combining it with the Eastern Expo to promote sustainable trade, investment, cultural identity and community participation. South Africa’s national celebration in Limpopo will focus on how digital tools and AI can improve visitor experiences, destination management and sustainability, featuring a digital tourism activation and Sustainability Village. India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands will hold competitions, eco-tourism activities, sports, cultural events and technology-focused initiatives, including a tourist-convenience app contest and promotion of emerging digital creators. Andhra Pradesh will stage its celebration in Rajamahendravaram while advancing tourism packages, roadshows, homestays and infrastructure plans tied to the upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu. The Algarve will mark the day with regional initiatives centered on nature, wine tourism, culture, local products and innovation.
