Eaton Expands European Grid Capabilities By Acquiring COL Group For €810 Million

Eaton has agreed to acquire Italy-based COL Group from Oaktree’s Power Opportunities strategy for an enterprise value of €810 million, expanding Eaton’s power-distribution manufacturing and engineering capabilities across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. COL Group, which has about 400 employees and facilities in four Italian cities, makes medium-voltage electrical distribution products, including SF₆-free switchgear, grid automation technology and modular power systems, and forecasts €250 million in sales for 2027. Eaton says the deal will strengthen its ability to serve utility and data center customers as demand grows for resilient power infrastructure. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027.
Eaton EMEA president Omar Zaire said COL Group’s technologies and expertise would strengthen Eaton’s European platform and help provide “resilient, sustainable power infrastructure and integrated grid-to-chip power solutions.”
Based on COL Group’s forecast €250 million in 2027 sales, Benzinga calculated the €810 million enterprise value as about 3.2 times projected sales.
Eaton’s Electrical Global segment recorded 21% total growth and 9% organic growth in the first quarter of 2026, while rolling 12-month orders rose 13%; management said global data-center power demand could nearly triple from 2025 to 2030.
COL Group has more than a century of experience developing electrical power-distribution solutions, according to Eaton’s announcement.
