Stray Kids Leader Bang Chan Surpasses 500 Million Won in Annual Charity Donations

The September donations were designated for two specific purposes: establishing a specialized rehabilitation center tailored to patients’ ages and conditions at Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital, and supporting recovery from severe flooding in Nepal through UNICEF Korea.
On his birthday last year, Bang Chan donated 200 million won: 100 million won to Samsung Medical Center for treatment costs for children and adolescents, and 100 million won to UNICEF Korea to support children worldwide.
In 2024, Bang Chan donated 100 million won to support people with developmental disabilities through the Community Chest of Korea.
Stray Kids recently performed five shows across three Latin American regions as part of the festival “Straycity”; the Mexico City performances alone drew a reported 270,000 people.
Stray Kids leader Bang Chan donated 300 million won on his 29th birthday to three charities, bringing his total donations this year to 500 million won. Otaku Kart reports the gifts of 100 million won each went to Hearcycle, World Vision, and OSEAN—organizations focused on hearing loss support, child welfare, and ocean cleanup.
The birthday donations follow 200 million won Chan gave in September to Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital and UNICEF Korea for disaster recovery in Nepal. His charitable giving reflects a pattern of consistent support: he donated 100 million won in 2024 to help people with developmental disabilities.
Each 100 million won gift addresses a specific need. Korea Joong Ang Daily reports Hearcycle will use the funds for medical care and social reintegration for young people with hearing loss. World Vision's portion supports scholarships and growth programs for children facing hardship. OSEAN will direct resources to coastal and marine-debris cleanup.
Chan explained his motivation simply: he wanted to reach people in need and foster hope for a better future. The donations represent a birthday choice to give rather than receive.
The 500 million won total reflects Chan's escalating charitable focus in 2024. September brought 200 million won split between Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital to build a specialized rehab center for patients of different ages, and UNICEF Korea for Nepal flood recovery.
Last year's birthday saw 200 million won donated: 100 million to Samsung Medical Center for child and adolescent treatment costs, and 100 million to UNICEF Korea for global child support. Earlier this year, Chan gave 100 million won through the Community Chest of Korea for developmental disability support.
Beyond charity work, Chan and Stray Kids performed five shows across three Latin American regions for the festival "Straycity." Outlook India reports Mexico City shows alone drew 270,000 people, underscoring the group's massive international fanbase and influence.
