Sainpoly Introduces Polycarbonate Greenhouse Systems Designed for Year-Round Cultivation in Extreme Climates

Sainpoly is promoting polycarbonate greenhouse systems for year-round controlled-environment agriculture in regions facing severe cold, hail, high winds, uneven daylight or large temperature swings. The systems use hollow polycarbonate panels designed to combine thermal insulation, impact resistance and light transmission, helping growers maintain more stable conditions for crops. Sainpoly says the technology can reduce winter heating energy use by two to three times compared with single-layer glass and limit weather-related damage, though the figures are company claims. The company says the approach is intended to improve crop yields and quality across a range of challenging climates.
Sainpoly describes itself as a commercial greenhouse manufacturer and provider of commercial greenhouse cultivation solutions, and said it is responding to the continued development of controlled-environment agriculture.
The systems use PC hollow sunsheets as the primary covering material, with the company linking the panels’ combined light, temperature and environmental-stability benefits to improved crop yields and quality throughout the year.
Sainpoly specifically identifies northern growing regions where winter minimum temperatures can fall below -20°C as a target market for the technology.
The company says the panels can withstand normal ice and hail impacts more directly than ordinary glass, reducing the risk of greenhouse destruction and helping maintain continuous agricultural production during severe weather.
