Rockstar Confirms 170 Wildlife Species and Massive Map for GTA 6

Rockstar has revealed that Grand Theft Auto 6’s Florida-inspired state of Leonida will feature six regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. The game will include more than 170 animal species, including over 60 bird species and more than 30 land mammals, alongside aquatic and wetland wildlife; some creatures will be rare, discoverable or legendary. Rockstar says its weather system will bring localized, persistent conditions, including tropical storms and hurricanes, with rain, wind and standing water affecting the environment. Other details include wildlife activities such as animal study and zoo visits, alongside pursuits including scuba diving, kayaking, racing and mini golf. Rockstar is scheduled to release the game on November 19, 2026.
Rockstar says the weather system will create effects beyond standing water: rain can produce rainbows, wind can ripple water, move hair and push debris, and players may see sunshine nearby while a storm passes in the distance.
Wildlife will have detailed visual variations, including iridescence, bioluminescence and translucency, while feather, hair and fur systems will affect how animals and their coats look.
Some activities can help build the relationship between protagonists Jason and Lucia, in addition to providing things to do outside of robberies.
Rockstar says the map is twice the size of GTA 5’s, with extensive interior detail; co-studio head Aaron Garbut described the world as a cohesive whole with a hand-crafted quality.
