California State Capitol evacuated following threat reported by construction crews in the west wing.

California's state Capitol was evacuated after construction crews in the west wing of the building reported a threat to authorities from the California Highway Patrol. The California Highway patrol evacuated the building as a precaution and conducted a thorough sweep of the area. The threat was reported by Erika Contreras, the secretary of the state Senate, who evacuated both work crews and those working around the construction site. Employees in the legislative office building and nearby building temporarily housing members of the Legislature, the governor and lieutenant governor were not affected. The Legislature is currently in recess and the 120 members of both the state Legislature and Assembly are in their districts.
