Hyperliquid Receives $14.5 Million in Reserve Yield to Fund HYPE Buybacks

Hyperliquid received its first roughly $14.5 million distribution of USDC reserve yield through AQAv2, which routes about 90% of eligible yield into the Assistance Fund for HYPE buybacks and burns. The funding builds on a revenue-based supply-reduction strategy, and reports say Hyperliquid bought and burned 112,580 HYPE in a 24-hour period, worth about $10.15 million. HYPE has traded above $90 and near its September record, while a separate large purchase by its treasury vehicle added another source of demand. These developments may support the token, though price forecasts and the market’s response remain uncertain.
AQAv2 was activated on August 26. Hyperliquid’s reserves exceed $5 billion, and Coinbase and Circle serve as treasury and technical deployers, respectively, routing 90% of the reserve yield to the Assistance Fund.
CoinGecko put Hyperliquid’s 2026 revenue at $429 million through mid-September. It also estimated AQAv2 could contribute about $182 million a year under a 3% treasury-yield assumption, though the amount would vary with reserve balances and rates.
Hyperliquid Strategies disclosed buying 1.9 million HYPE for about $167.2 million, bringing its holdings to roughly 37 million tokens, according to the report.
The report also described potential supply pressure: Hyperliquid unstaked 3.75 million HYPE—about $320 million to $330 million at the time—as team compensation, sending it to an institutional buyer through an OTC-style deal without an explicit lockup.
CoinCodex forecast a 19.87% decline in HYPE over five days, to $72.46 by October 10, 2026, despite reporting bullish market sentiment and 26 indicators signaling a bullish outlook.
