Widespread Road Closures For Utility And Repair Work Prompt Community Concerns Across Regions

Several communities face temporary road closures for utility work, resurfacing or repairs. In Bolton, three roads are scheduled to close in late September and early October for electricity and water work, with diversions in place. A separate seven-month closure of the B4204 near Rochford has prompted concerns from residents about lengthy detours, access to essential services, safety and mental health, alongside calls for better updates from Worcestershire County Council. In Carmarthenshire, three roads will close at different times for telecom installation, resurfacing and water-main replacement, while a Carlow road is set to close from October 19 to December 18 for water works. In Cooroy, Nandroya Road is expected to close for about four months for landslide repairs; a residents’ group has questioned consultation and notice, while Noosa Council says nearby residents and businesses were informed and that the schedule depends on approvals.
In Rochford, Martley councillor Barbara Jones-Williams said some residents’ journeys to medical services in Tenbury Wells had grown from about five or six miles to roughly 13 miles each way, making GP appointments and pharmacy visits harder to access.
Carlow County Council said written or emailed submissions on the L2000 Ricketstown South closure had to reach its Senior Engineer by 5 p.m. on September 25, 2026.
Carmarthenshire Council said access to individual properties would be maintained where possible during the three closures, including the 75-day U4002 closure for water-main replacement.
Noosa Council said severe-weather damage had compromised Nandroya Road’s stability and damaged the culvert beneath its full width; the closure’s start date remained dependent on final traffic and environmental approvals.
