Chicago Woman Charged With First-Degree Murder in Stabbing Death of Young Girl

Shavon Gayden, a 48-year-old Chicago woman, has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly stabbing and killing a 7-year old girl on the South Side. The attack occurred in the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in the East Chatham neighborhood. The girl, identified as Eddimar Hernandez Chacon, was stabbed multiple times in the back and died at the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital. The motive for the attack remains unclear. Gayden is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing on Monday.
