Samsung Affiliates Commit $1 Billion to AI Infrastructure Firm Helix

Six Samsung affiliates will invest a combined $1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure, with Samsung Electronics contributing $500 million and the other five affiliates providing the rest. Founded by KKR, Helix develops and operates AI infrastructure, including large-scale data centers, power generation and networks, and fiber-optic connectivity; its other founding investors include the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA, and Vistra. Samsung aims to expand beyond supplying AI components and apply its affiliates’ expertise in semiconductors, construction, data center operations, energy storage, and cooling to Helix’s global buildout. The investment targets key constraints on AI data center growth, particularly reliable power supply and thermal management.
Helix is led by Adam Selipsky, Amazon Web Services’ former CEO; it launched in June 2026 and is assembling a management team with experience in data centers and power.
Helix is designed to help hyperscalers secure integrated infrastructure at scale, including both baseload and flexible power sources—not just data centers and connectivity.
Samsung’s announcement describes AI data centers as platforms for services such as GPU-as-a-Service, Sovereign AI and colocation, illustrating the range of businesses the infrastructure could support.
Helix CEO and co-founder Adam Selipsky called Samsung’s commitment a “strong vote of confidence” and said the company’s capabilities could benefit Helix and its customers.
