BYD plans to produce trucks in Europe to avoid tariffs and expand its footprint.

BYD is planning to produce trucks in Europe in an effort to become a "European company" in an attempt to avoid import tariffs on trucks. Executive Vice President of BYD Stella Li, who also plans to offer fleet operators a full package of services such as financing, solar-powered charging infrastructure, and a workshop network supported by mobile roadside assistance. The company is also planning to increase its passenger-car manufacturing footprint in Europe. The move comes amid calls from European manufacturers, including Traton's (8TRA.DE) MAN, who have called for tariffs on Chinese electric trucks similar to those already applied to Chinese EVs.
