LSU Football Player Damien Shanklin Under Criminal Investigation For Alleged Sexual Assault

Louisiana authorities are investigating LSU football player Damien Shanklin for allegedly raping a female student in 2025. The woman alleges that Shanklin, a second-year player for the Tigers, had penetrative sex with her without her consent and sent her $1,000 to cover up the charges. Initially, a Title IX case initially resulted in Shanklin being found responsible for "forcible rape" and suspended from campus activities, but an appeal reduced the suspension to probation after an appeal. The East Baton Rouge District Attorney's Office is now investigating the case. The victim made her allegations public in a TikTok video. Lawyers for Shanklin maintain his innocence and will cooperate in the investigation. After the Title IX investigation was appealed by Shanklin and resulted in a lesser sentence, the woman went public.
