Vice President JD Vance Downplays Republican No-Shows For Texas Midterm Convention

Vice President JD Vance has dismissed concerns that some Republicans in key congressional races are planning to skip the party's first-ever midterm convention in Texas, despite questions about whether the event could benefit battleground candidates. Vance stated that while it might be better for a candidate to be out fundraising, it is a better way to spend your time. The convention, dubbed "Trumpapalooza," aims to unify the party and reach voters who may not have tuned in yet. However, some Republicans have warned that the convention could backfire in battleground races due to being too closely tied to President Donald Trump. A survey of 70 Republican candidates and members of Congress also found that most opted out of the convention citing plans in their districts and other obligations.
