White House AI Czar

Trump Expected to Appoint Jay Clayton as New White House AI Czar

President Donald Trump is expected to announce Jay Clayton as the White House's new artificial intelligence czar, according to two sources. Clayton, who is currently director of national intelligence, could be announced as the new role by Friday. This comes as the government faces increasing calls to impose guardrails on the rapid development of artificial intelligence. The announcement comes after Trump announced plans to create an AI Force and name an AI czar. Clayton was confirmed by the Senate in July to lead the US intelligence community and succeeded Bill Pulte as acting director.
