Rep. Ro Khanna's Staffers Secure First Long-Term Union Contract on Capitol Hill

Rep. Ro Khanna's congressional staffers have ratified a collective bargaining agreement, marking the first long-term labor agreement in a Capitol Hill office. The agreement was ratified four years after Khanna’s office voted to unionize. The House approved a resolution in 2022 giving House staffers the right to collectively bargain, extending organizing protections to over 9,000 House staffers. The deal reportedly includes a higher salary floor and a process to renegotiate salaries if the office's budget allowance increases. It also includes a mechanism to resolve internal grievances.
