Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger is granted parole after serving seven years.

A former Dallas police officer, Amber Guyger, has been granted parole after seven years in prison for fatally shooting a man in his apartment in 2018. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles approved parole for Guyger who was convicted of murder in the death of Botham Jean. Guyger was returning home from her shift as a Dallas police Officer when she opened fire twice at Jean's apartment, which she claimed she mistook for her own.
