Boy, 12, Seriously Injured Following E-Bike Hit-and-Run Incident in Thurnscoe

A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured when an electric bike struck him as he crossed Houghton Road in Thurnscoe, Barnsley. He suffered a fractured skull and broken ankle and was being treated in hospital; his football club said he was being closely monitored after a bleed near his brain. The rider fled, and police later recovered the suspected bike but have not identified the rider. Police and the boy’s family are appealing for witnesses and anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to come forward.
Police said the collision occurred on Thursday, 24 September, and described the bike as a Sur-Ron electric motorbike.
The football club placed the incident close to the football cages toward School Street in Thurnscoe.
The boy was receiving care in the neurological department in Sheffield, according to his football club.
The family's appeal specified that witnesses or anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage covering the area around 9 p.m. should come forward.
