Tandem Financial Elevates VanEck Gold Miners ETF (GDX) to Top Holding in Major Portfolio Reshuffle

Tandem Financial LLC disclosed multiple ETF portfolio moves, cutting its stake in the SPDR S&P Software & Services ETF while also trimming another equity-focused holding in the iShares Morningstar Mid-Cap Growth ETF. The firm increased exposure to the Vanguard Long-Term Treasury ETF and made a sharp, more than threefold jump in the Vanguard Small-Cap Growth ETF. It also raised its position in the VanEck Gold Miners ETF, which became its largest ETF holding by value, reflecting a tilt toward commodities-linked equities. Across these filings, other institutions were simultaneously adjusting positions in the same funds, signaling broad investor activity rather than a single-firm bet. Overall, the changes show Tandem balancing growth and fixed-income exposures while adding materially to gold-miner exposure.
Tandem Financial reduced its stake in the SPDR S&P Software & Services ETF (XSW) by 71.0% to 5,309 shares after selling 12,988 shares, with the position valued at about $1,003,000; XSW was its 21st-largest ETF holding.
For the Vanguard Long-Term Treasury ETF (VGLT), Tandem increased holdings by 21.2% to 153,416 shares after buying an additional 26,882 shares; VGLT made up about 8.2% of Tandem’s portfolio and was its 3rd-largest holding, representing roughly 0.08% of the ETF itself.
Tandem trimmed its position in the iShares Morningstar Mid-Cap Growth ETF (IMCG) by 30.6% to 65,401 shares after selling 28,816 shares; IMCG accounted for approximately 4.8% of Tandem’s portfolio and was its 7th-largest holding (about $4.94 million at the end of the reporting period).
Tandem’s surge in the Vanguard Small-Cap Growth ETF (VBK) was driven by a 309.1% increase: the firm owned 12,867 shares after adding 9,722 shares; VBK represented about 3.5% of Tandem’s investments and was its 9th-largest holding (worth roughly $3.604 million).
Tandem boosted its position in the VanEck Gold Miners ETF (GDX) by 18.2% to 223,196 shares after buying 34,434 shares; the holding was about 18.4% of Tandem’s portfolio and its largest ETF by far (about $19.144 million). The fund’s mandate is to track the AMEX Gold Miners Index’s price and yield performance.
