At Bethlehem’s Liberty High School, officials distinguished between a “lock-in,” when students stayed in classrooms or designated lunch areas while school continued normally, and a later “lock-out,” which limited entry to the building. Student arrivals and dismissals were to be closely monitored, with police patrols increased at dismissal.
Butler County 911 instructed Butler Area School District schools to enter a perimeter lockdown, according to Superintendent Brian White’s letter to families; authorities had not released further details about the reported threat.
Troutman police said South Iredell High School’s brief alert followed officers pursuing a suspect on foot near the school. Officials did not say whether the alert affected dismissal or end-of-day transportation.
