The European Union announced nearly €710 million in humanitarian aid for displaced people and communities hosting them, with most funding focused on sub-Saharan Africa and additional support for people affected by conflicts and disasters elsewhere. The package includes €380 million for migration-related efforts in sub-Saharan Africa, including protecting vulnerable migrants, supporting voluntary return and reintegration, and responding to forced displacement; a further €252 million is earmarked for urgent needs linked to conflict, epidemics and natural disasters, including in Africa, the Palestinian territories, Lebanon and Ukraine. The funding also includes support for the response to Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and aid addressing food insecurity and other emergencies.
