CSIR Launches Five New Popular-Science Magazines in Regional Indian Languages

India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research marked its 85th Foundation Day by launching five popular-science magazines in Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali and Assamese through its science-communication institute, CSIR-NIScPR. The publications aim to make reliable scientific information and regional research more accessible, while encouraging original science writing in Indian languages. Artificial intelligence will help translate selected material from CSIR-NIScPR’s existing magazines, with human editors reviewing, fact-checking and refining the translations before publication.
