Stan Kroenke To Purchase Los Angeles Angels Raising Questions About Angel Stadium Future

The Los Angeles Angels baseball team is being sold to Stan Kroenke, who owns the Los Angeles Rams. The deal still requires Major League Baseball approval. Despite being one of baseball's worst teams, the Angels have the 13th-best attendance in baseball. The potential of Angel Stadium in Anaheim lies in the real estate market, which is located on 150 acres of prime Orange County real estate. However, the team’s lease can be extended to 2038, making it a strong obligation to stay in Anaheim. The stadium was built for baseball in 1966 and underwent a massive expansion in 1980 to add the Rams as a football tenant. However the future of the stadium was uncertain due to a political corruption scandal and a poor structure.
