Arch Manning ties career high as No. 5 Texas rolls past Texas State.

No. 5 Texas defeated Texas State 59-7 in the season opener, with Arch Manning throwing for 305 yards and four touchdowns. This was Manning's 17th career start and he connected on 20 of his 27 passes. The win sets up a crucial game against top-ranked Ohio State next week. Texas' running back tandem, Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown, combined for 104 yards and a touchdown respectively. Quarterback Brad Jackson led the Bobcats with 177 total yards, 150 of which were on 15-of-23 passing. The Longhorns' defense also contributed to the win.
