Musk's Political Funding Explored
Elon Musk Revives America PAC, Funds GOP Midterms After SpaceX Contract Win
Anonymous
Elon Musk is pouring $100 million to $120 million into his political action committee, America PAC, to boost Republican voter turnout in the 2026 midterm elections, according to USA Today. The move follows a $1.6 billion government contract awarded to his rocket company, SpaceX, raising fresh questions about the line between business and political spending.
Musk and America PAC spent nearly $290 million in 2024 to help Donald Trump win the presidency and hand Republicans control of Congress, USA Today reported. Now, with legal battles still unresolved from that effort, Musk is gearing up to do it again.
SpaceX Contract Lands Days Before PAC Revival
SpaceX secured a $1.6 billion NASA contract to launch 18 rockets before Musk announced his renewed PAC investment, according to USA Today. Critics say the timing looks bad. Musk's companies receive billions in federal contracts. Now he is spending heavily to keep the party that controls those contracts in power.
Musk has not publicly addressed the conflict-of-interest questions. America PAC's stated goal is driving voter turnout for Republican candidates in key House and Senate races. The PAC plans to focus on competitive districts where small margins decide winners.
Pennsylvania Fraud Claims Tie Musk to Petition Scheme
Three men in Pennsylvania say they were defrauded during America PAC's 2024 campaign, according to Courier Journal. They claim they were promised money to collect signatures on petitions supporting the First and Second Amendments. They also say they were told to recruit others to sign.
The lawsuit is still active. It is one of several legal fights that could complicate Musk's 2026 plans. Lawyers for the plaintiffs argue the PAC made promises it never kept.
Wisconsin Supreme Court Race Draws Illegal Spending Allegations
Musk and America PAC spent heavily to sway a Wisconsin state Supreme Court election in 2025, according to USA Today. Investigators are now asking whether that spending broke state campaign finance laws. Wisconsin sets strict rules on outside money in judicial races.
The Wisconsin probe adds to a pattern of legal scrutiny around America PAC. Regulators in multiple states are watching how the group operates. Any finding of illegal activity could freeze PAC funds or trigger federal review ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Federal Judge Orders Musk to Testify in Arizona Lawsuit
A federal judge in Texas has ordered Musk to sit for a sworn deposition, according to Herald Mail Media. Two Arizona women filed the lawsuit. They claim America PAC lured them with cash offers and then defrauded them during the 2024 campaign.
A deposition means Musk must answer questions under oath. Lying during a deposition is a federal crime. The case could force Musk to explain, on the record, how America PAC recruited and paid workers during the 2024 election cycle — just as he is building it back up for 2026.
