Jets Name Jason Sanders Starting Kicker for Season Opener Against Titans

Jets coach Aaron Glenn has announced that Jason Sanders will be the team's kicker in the season opener against the Titans, rather than Blake Grupe, who is currently on the active roster. Sanders, who was claimed off waivers from the Giants in June, will either be elevated or signed to the active team. The two were in a competition for the job for Week 1. The Jets have been looking for a replacement for Nick Folk, who signed with Atlanta in March. Veteran players Tim Patrick and Joseph Ossai are ruled out due to injuries.
