GolfStatus and Dormie Network have opened nominations for the sixth annual Play It Forward campaign, offering one deserving golf fundraiser a $10,000 donation, according to Leader Post. The campaign also awards a Stay and Play Package — a two-day golf getaway at one of Dormie Network's private destination clubs.
Since its launch in 2021, the Play It Forward campaign has awarded $60,000 total to organizations using golf to raise money for their causes, Montreal Gazette reported. Nominations are now open for the sixth edition.
Any Golf Fundraiser Can Apply for $10,000
The campaign is open to a wide range of golf fundraising events. Traditional 18-hole tournaments qualify, but so do scrambles, TopGolf fundraisers, simulator tournaments, and even mini golf events, according to The Province. Organizers say any creative golf format counts.
The winner gets two things: a $10,000 donation to put toward their mission and a two-day golf getaway at an eligible Dormie Network private club, Ontario Farmer reported. The prize is designed to help the winning group grow its impact and reach more people.
Six Years of Giving Back Through Golf
Play It Forward started in 2021 as a partnership between GolfStatus and Dormie Network. Over five campaigns, it has handed out $60,000 to nonprofits and charities that use golf tournaments to fuel their work, Toronto Sun reported.
GolfStatus is a platform that helps nonprofits run and manage golf fundraisers. Dormie Network is a group of private destination golf clubs. Together, they built Play It Forward to spotlight organizations doing good work through the sport, according to Edmonton Sun.
How the Nomination Process Works
Groups that run a golf fundraiser — or plan to run one — can submit a nomination for the $10,000 prize. The campaign is aimed at finding organizations that use golf in meaningful ways to strengthen their communities, Stratford Beacon Herald reported.
The Dormie Network Foundation is also involved in this year's campaign alongside GolfStatus and Dormie Network, according to The Sudbury Star. The foundation's role adds another layer of support for the winning organization's charitable mission.
