Hublot and Jeff Koons Unveil Limited-Edition Classic Fusion Balloon Dog Wristwatch

The watch includes a custom tungsten oscillating weight shaped to complement the case’s rounded form, along with 50-meter water resistance and Balloon Dog-shaped, color-matched packaging.
Koons’s orange Balloon Dog sold for $58.4 million at Christie’s in 2013, while his stainless-steel Rabbit reached $91.1 million in 2019, underscoring the price gap between the watch and his major works.
The collaboration launched in New York, with the watches set to be available through select Hublot boutiques and galleries—an approach reflecting the project’s status as both a timepiece and an art object.
Koons said the Classic Fusion was “entirely re-engineered” to create the illusion of air pressure, while Hublot CEO Julien Tornare described the project as “an extraordinary exercise in engineering, craftsmanship and detail.”
Hublot and American artist Jeff Koons have unveiled the Classic Fusion Balloon Dog, a luxury watch inspired by Koons's iconic balloon-animal sculptures. The 42mm timepiece was entirely re-engineered with rounded, inflated surfaces across the case, crystal, dial and lugs to mimic the look of air pressure, according to Watchonista. Each version costs $25,100 and comes in three finishes: mirror-polished stainless steel, red anodized aluminum, and blue anodized aluminum, with just 200 pieces produced in each color.
The collaboration launched in New York on September 16 and will be available through select Hublot boutiques and galleries, positioning the watch as both a timepiece and an art object, per Design Boom. Koons said the Classic Fusion was "entirely re-engineered" to capture the balloon illusion, while Hublot CEO Julien Tornare called it "an extraordinary exercise in engineering, craftsmanship and detail."
Creating a watch that looks like inflated rubber required radical re-design. Hublot used five-axis CNC machining and hand-finishing to craft surfaces that appear puffy and pressurized. A valve-shaped crown, rubber balloon tail, and miniature Balloon Dog seconds-hand counterweight reinforce the concept, Watch Onista reports. The watch also includes a custom tungsten oscillating weight shaped to complement the case's rounded form.
Inside ticks Hublot's HUB1710 automatic movement, offering a 50-hour power reserve and 50-meter water resistance. The engineering feat bridges two worlds: high-precision watchmaking and contemporary pop art. Every detail—from screws to lugs—was reimagined to maintain the balloon illusion without compromising function.
While the Balloon Dog watch retails at $25,100, Koons's original sculptures sell for vastly more. His orange Balloon Dog sold for $58.4 million at Christie's in 2013, and his stainless-steel Rabbit reached $91.1 million in 2019, according to First Post. The watch offers a way to own Koons-inspired design at a fraction of the cost of his major works.
This price gap underscores the collaboration's appeal: collectors can wear Koons-designed luxury without auction-house stakes. The watch becomes an accessible entry point to the artist's iconic visual language for a broader audience.
Hublot is making exactly 200 pieces in each of the three color options—600 watches total. This scarcity positions the Classic Fusion Balloon Dog as a collectible, per Design Boom. Each watch comes in Balloon Dog-shaped, color-matched packaging that reinforces its status as an art object, not just a timepiece.
The collaboration also includes a second timepiece, the MP-14 Origin by Jeff Koons, which explores a different artistic vision. Together, the two watches represent Hublot's commitment to blending high watchmaking with contemporary art at the luxury level.
