Department of Justice moves to strip U.S. citizenship from 40 convicted criminals.

The Department of Homeland Security is moving to strip U.S. citizenship from 40 people accused of crimes, marking the largest denaturalization effort in modern history. The move expands DHS's use of little-known denaturalisation mechanisms. The individuals, who range from 26 to 76, were convicted of crimes such as aggravated sodomy, transportation of child pornography, and sexual abuse of a minor. The total number of attempted denaturalizations in recent years is more than the past several years combined, according to researchers at the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRACE).
